Thirteen Charged Following R.I.D.E. Spot Checks in Niagara

Niagara Regional Police release latest driving stats.

Thirteen people are facing charges following a series of R.I.D.E. spot checks in Niagara.

The charges were laid between January 24th and January 31st.

The individuals include four people from Niagara Falls, three from St. Catharines, two New Yorkers, and one person each from Acton, Fort Erie, Welland and Lincoln.

Those arrested were charged with impaired driving by drugs or alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, or refusing to provide a breath or blood sample.

Each person also received a 90 day license suspension.

The NRP says impaired driving is the leading cause of criminal deaths in Canada.
