Suspect accused of pulling a knife during robbery
A fourteen year old has been arrested after a store in Port Colborne was robbed.
The incident took place around 11:24 a.m. yesterday, at an Avondale Store near Main Street West and Elm Street.
Police say the suspect took items from a shelf, and left the store without paying.
A staff member stopped the teen outside the store, and a knife was drawn.
A passing driver pulled over to help.
Nobody was injured.
Officers found the suspect at the intersection of Elm Street and Neff Street and arrested him.
The knife was also recovered.
The fourteen year old, who is from Port Colborne, has been charged with the following crimes:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Theft Under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Sentence
According to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his name cannot be released.
The teenager remains in custody, and a bail hearing will take place this afternoon.
