Talk show host Jerry Springer has died at the age of 79.
A family spokesperson says he battled a brief illness, with sources telling TMZ he was recently diagnosed with cancer.
He hosted the Jerry Springer show from 1991 until 2018.
The show was a guilty pleasure favourite for millions of Americans, often featuring lurid drama and chair-throwing, which frequently led to "Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry" chants from the audience.
Before his work in television, he served one term as the mayor of Cincinnati.
