Council voted to pressure for more funding and solutions at hospitals
More pressure is coming to the Ontario government to do something about ambulance off-load times at hospitals.
That will be from St. Catharines city council, which voted unanimously Monday night to pressure the Niagara Region, local MPPs, the Ontario health minister and other city governments for more funding and solutions to delays at emergency wards.
The motion was brought forth by Councillor Dawn Dodge.
It also pointed out a warning from Ontario paramedics the spillover effects of overburdened hospitals provincewide would lead to a shortage of ambulances.
The motion also makes reference to some communities that have declared a local emergency in response to persistent ambulance delays leading to situations in which there are no ambulances.
