The 2025 budget, approved by the mayor, includes a 2.82% tax increase, and money to replace a fire station
If you live in St. Catharines, the city portion of your taxes is going up $49 next year, or a 1.13-percent increase.
Mayor Mat Siscoe has given his approval for next year's budget, after some amendments by council.
Those amendments include over a million dollars for George Taylor Field enhancements, and $900,000 for pickleball court development.
The city says the 2025 budget, with amendments, reflects a 2.82% increase on the city tax bill, which is a tad higher than the 2.71 percent proposed in the mayor's draft budget.
With the city portion of $49, comes another $217 from the estimated regional increase.
Other highlights include $7.5-milion to replace Fire Station #3, $2.6-million for roads, and $2.6-million for outdoor aquatics in Port Dalhousie such as a splash pad, sun shelter and washroom.
