First they left the main downtown street, now the St. Catharines Standard office is leaving the city for good.
It's parent company Torstar has decided to close the paper's King Street office.
The paper says staff from all three of its local papers, including the Review and Tribune, have been working from home for the last year and have managed to successfully keep readers informed and the papers running.
As a result, management re-evaluated the need for a brick and mortar building and decided none is necessary.
Torstar's President of daily news brands, Neil Oliver is quoted in the paper saying "we are only closing our physical office and we remain committed to providing our valued readers with quality local journalism in both in print and digital."
