Emergency watermain repair work taking place this week.
Some Welland residents will have their water shutdown as Niagara Region undertakes emergency watermain repair work.
Service will be shut down overnight on Wednesday, October 6th, and is expected to return around 9:00 a.m. the next day.
The shutdown will affect the following properties:
- On Southworth St. from Railroad Ave. to Humberstone Rd.
- East of Southworth St. to Bradley Ave., from one block north of Sauer Avenue to Marc Blvd.
- On David St. from Sauer Ave. to Sager Ave. inclusive
- In Dain City
The shutdown may also impact properties west of Southworth St to Deer St. from Ontario Rd. to Gordon St.
Residents are advised to have a portable water container filled with drinking water, and fill buckets for washing and flushing the toilet.
During the shutdown, you'll need to turn off all your taps to avoid flooding when the water is turned back on.
You're also advised against operating the faucets when the water is shut off or using your water heater.
After the shutdown, you're urged to turn on the cold water tap closest to your water meter and run the water until it's clear, which should take about 10 minutes.
You can also turn on each additional cold water tap and let it run for about five minutes.
