Anglican diocese services to go virtual while Catholic masses will be held in-person.
Several places of worship in Niagara are making holiday service changes due to COVID-19.
The Anglican Diocese of Niagara says all services and ministry activities will take place online.
In a release, Bishop Susan Bell says worship will be conducted by liturgical teams of no more than 10 fully vaccinated individuals, except for weddings, funerals or baptisms.
She also notes social and emergency food services and pastoral care appointments will continue in-person as needed.
Meanwhile, the Standard reports in-person Christmas, Sunday and weekday services remain in place for the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Catharines, unless changes are mandated by the province.
Most of the 44 parishes are requiring people to register beforehand.
Other churches are also offering online services, including the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Alexandria in St. Catharines, which will have a livestreamed Christmas midnight mass.
Meanwhile, Knox Presbyterian Church says on its website that it currently plans to hold in-person services on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, unless an announcement is made by the province.
St. Giles Presbyterian Church in St. Catharines also notes on its website that it intends to hold all Christmas services in person, but in-person worship services may be halted if community COVID-19 cases continue trending upwards.
