Police say it happened in a St. Catharines parking lot, the senior hit by a vehicle
Hamilton police are investigating after an 85-year old St. Catharines man was hit by a vehicle in a local parking lot.
Niagara Regional police were called this morning at arond 9:45, to the parking lot of a plaza at the corner of Welland Avenue and Bunting Road.
They found the elderly man had been hit, he was taken to hospital with what was considered life threatening injuries.
Police add the driver remained at the scene, and they soon learned it was one of their own, an off-duty NRPS officer.
To avoid any perceived conflict of interest, in accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act regulations, the NRP asked Hamilton police to take over the investigation.
