Public Health Agency of Canada says there are reports of over 100 symptoms associated with post-COVID-19 condition.
Canada's chief public health officer says the federal government is trying to determine how many Canadians are suffering from long COVID.
Dr. Theresa Tam says researchers are looking into what percentage of people who get COVID-19 suffer from long-term side effects.
A survey has been launched by the Public Health Agency of Canada and Statistics Canada to help give researchers an idea of how common it is for people to experience lingering effects after getting the virus.
The public health agency says there have been reports of over 100 symptoms associated with long COVID, also known as post-COVID-19 condition.
While data is scarce at the moment, Tam says she thinks long COVID will have a substantial impact on Canadians.
She also notes studies suggest there is emerging evidence that COVID-19 vaccinations offer some protection against long COVID.
