Federal and provincial governments investing over $16 million in water infrastructure projects in Welland, Grimsby, Lincoln and Pelham.
Four local water projects are getting some help from the provincial and federal governments.
Representatives from both levels of government, including MPs Chris Bittle and Vance Badawey, were in Welland today to announce a $4.8 million project that will install about 1,500 metres of watermain along Canal Bank Road.
It will also fund seven new hydrants and additional valves.
"Investment in critical infrastructure is a pillar of sustainability to a growing city like Welland. The Dain City Secure watermain project is an important realization for our residents," said Mayor Frank Campion. "Funding from our provincial and federal partners strengthens our infrastructure and brings greater peace of mind to our residents, which pays dividends long after the work is complete."
As well, MPP Sam Oosterhoff has announced $11.6 million in joint funding for water infrastructure projects in Grimsby, Pelham and Lincoln.
The funds will help replace watermains in the three municipalities and replace fire hydrants in Pelham and Grimsby.
Earlier today, the provincial and federal governments announced investments in 144 community water infrastructure projects.
All four projects will receive funds through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
