It says this is part of critical water and sewer upgrades, in preparation of another 2,100 homes to be built
Construction starts this week in Smithville on essential watermain and sewer upgrades, supported by over $3.9-million in provincial money.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff says the funding from the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund for West Lincoln will help with construction of 2,100 new homes.
He adds this means municipal taxpayers will not carry the burden.
The government says it's spending almost $1.3-billion for 77 water infrastructure projects province-wide, supporting construction of 600,000 new homes.
In August, the province announced $53-million for six Niagara municipal water systems, and $41-million for irrigation pipelines, just to mention a few.
