Premier Doug Ford has issued an emergency order to offer free child care services to more essential workers in Niagara and beyond.
He’s opening it up to Canada Post employees, Canada Border Services Agency officers, power workers, water/wastewater workers and drug and medical supply manufacturers.
The expansion also covers those who work in homeless shelters, group homes, women’s shelters and child welfare.
“Looking after their kids while they’re looking after us is just one small way of recognizing their sacrifice.”
During today’s press conference, Premier Ford was also asked if he has received any indication from the Medical Officer of Health if the schools could reopen before the end of June.
“As of yet he has not mentioned it, but we do not want to put our kids in jeopardy. The number one priority is to make sure our kids are healthy and safe.”
