Three local training and education projects getting $6.5 million from province.
Three local projects are getting some help from the Ontario Skills Development Fund.
Over $6.5 million is being invested for training initiatives by Canadian Niagara Hotels in Niagara Falls and Youth Skills and Edge Factor studios in Beamsville.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff, Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton and Labour Minister Monte McNaughton were on hand for the announcement.
The projects will offer training and educational programs to workers in Niagara.
Easton says the funds will go a long way towards supporting local businesses facing staffing shortages while helping youth prepare to enter the workforce.
"The pandemic has caused many of our local businesses to be short-staffed and in need of a talented young workforce," said Easton. "With pandemic restrictions lifted, this extension of our Youth Skills Studio program could not come at a more critical time to support youth readiness into the workforce."
