The province has released plans to vaccinate residents, essential caregivers and healthcare staff in long-term care homes in priority regions by January 21st.
These priority regions include Toronto, Peel, Windsor-Essex and York Region.
There is no word yet on when vaccines will arrive in Niagara.
The government says that since the start of the vaccine rollout last month, over 50,000 people have received the Pfizer vaccine, and 7,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine have been administered.
The provincial government also announced plans to invest $398 million during the second wave to prevent the virus from entering long-term care homes from the community.
Minister of Long-Term Care Doctor Merrilee Fullerton says that the provincial government is doing everything they can to help stop the spread of the disease.
"While we rollout the vaccine as quickly as possible, we are also providing additional support to help homes detect any cases early so that the virus can be contained."
