The Ontario government is introducing new measures in an effort to keep students and staff safe during the pandemic.
These protections include refresher training, expanded asymptomatic testing and enhanced cleaning.
Also, education workers across the province who work with special needs students, as well as all education workers in select hot spot areas, can begin registering for vaccinations during the spring break next week.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce notes that this will help protect students, staff members and their families.
"Our students deserve a safe return to their classrooms on April 19 so that they can keep learning, and we are committed to delivering on that."
Other safety measures being introduced include outdoor instruction when possible, on-site confirmation of self-screening, and curriculum-linked activities for students.
For the week of April 12th-18th, expanded access to asymptomatic testing is available to students and staff at pharmacies that offer testing, as well as 180 assessment centres in the province.
