Premier To Make Announcement Regarding Former Residential School Sites

Announcement set for 11 am

Premier Doug Ford has an announcement set for today involving residential school burial sites.

Ford will be joined by Minister of Indigenous Affairs Greg Rickford along with Indigenous leaders this morning at 11:00.

The chief of Six Nations of the Grand River in Ohsweken, Mark Hill has asked Ottawa for $10 million to fund a search for possible remains of children on the grounds of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School.

This comes after the bodies of 215 children were found buried at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C.
