They arrested 2 men from St. Catharines
A dramatic drug bust in St. Catharines yesterday.
Police were patrolling Welland Avenue and Page Street, when they noticed a wanted man doing drug transactions with multiple pedestrians.
Police tried to arrest the man, who resisted, he also tried to reach for a gun in his waist band, but police made the arrest.
While this was happening, a satchel dropped to the ground, another man grabbed it and ran, but he was arrested at a Seneca Street house.
Police add witnesses told them he threw fentanyl, and other drugs from the bag into a side yard.
Police have laid 21 charges against 24-year old Patrick Roy of St. Catharines:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (4 counts)
- Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon (4 counts)
- Possess Firearm without Holding a License
- Possess Restricted Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License
- Carry Firearm/Ammunition in a Careless Manner
- Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Use Firearm During the Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Possess Firearm Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (3 Counts)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Traffic in Schedule I Substance
They've also charged 30-year old Dustin Cichocki of St. Catharines:
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime (under $5000)
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (4 counts)
- Traffic in Schedule I Substance
Both have bail hearings today.
