Man went missing on Sunday after rafting with his dog
Emergency crews continue to search for a man who went missing in Twelve Mile Creek.
Around 8:50 p.m. Sunday night, officers were called to Twelve Mile Creek in St. Catharines.
Niagara Regional Police Constable Phil Gavin says a man went rafting with his dog, and when he got out of the raft, it started to float away with the dog still on it.
He tried to recover the raft, submerged under the water, and was not seen again.
The raft and the dog were found by St. Catharines Fire Services personnel.
The NRPS Marine Unit has been searching the area, but their efforts have been hampered by bad weather and treacherous currents.
While police have not released the man's name, the St. Catharines Standard says he has been identified on social media as Liam Neumann.
Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area due to land and water hazards.
