Officers seeking suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted by a man driving a mobility scooter.
Niagara Regional Police are asking for the public's help to identify a sexual assault suspect.
Investigators say around 5:30 p.m. on May 26th, police responded to a sexual assault that just occurred in the Merritt Island area, located near Welland City Hall on East Main Street.
The victim indicated she had been sitting alone when approached by a man driving a blue mobility scooter.
Officers say the victim didn't know the suspect, and wasn't hurt as a result of the alleged assault.
The man is described as follows:
- Male
- White
- 50 to 60 years
- Short white/grey hair
- Short white/grey facial hair
- Heavy set build
- Large scar on left knee
- Wearing a dark navy baseball hat, white t-shirt, tan cargo shorts, white shoes
Police believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to public safety.
