Environment Canada has made this call for Niagara, likely to last to Friday
An Orange-level air quality warning has been issued for the Niagara region by Environment Canada.
This is due to the smoke from wildfires in northwestern Ontario that has arrived, causing a smokey haze, which might last to Friday.
The Niagara Region advises to stay indoors, with closed windows, don't do any strenuous outdoor activity, and if you are outside, consider a mask.
Poor air quality can impact everyone, but especially those over 65 years old, pregnant women, children, and those with existing illness or chronic health condition.
Common symptoms of too much exposure include eye irritation, nose, throat or lungs, also coughing, headache or dizziness.
The City of St. Catharines is closing its outdoor pools, and sports fields, and cancelling outdoor activities and events.
However, city splash pads will stay open until 9pm, and you can swim at the Kiwanis Aquatics centre.
