The OPP says it responded to five fatalities over the Labour Day long weekend.
A motor vehicle driver, a motorcyclist, an off-road vehicle driver, a kayaker and a motorized vehicle passenger all lost their lives in separate incidents.
Police say over 9,000 traffic charges were laid, including 6,232 for speeding.
In addition, 530 charges were laid for seatbelt infractions and 169 charges were laid for impaired driving.
Officers also issued 100 license suspensions for violations like stunt racing and driving with a blood alcohol level in the warn range.
