OPP Raising Awareness About Scams Targeting Senior Citizens

Last year, seniors across Canada lost $138 million in various frauds

June is Senior's Month in Ontario, and the OPP is raising awareness about scams that target the elderly.

According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, seniors lost about $138 million last year in scams.

Over half of that came from investment frauds, which promise higher than normal returns.

Romance scams also ranked high on the list.

You're advised not to give out personal information over email and text, or feel pressured into making a quick decision.
