Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff has issued a statement, ahead of today's one-day strike.
He says the province has been very reasonable at the bargaining table, but union leaders are actively showing that they're ready to jeopardize students learning experience.
Oosterhoff also says parents would like government dollars put toward student success, not increased compensation.
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation says today's one-day strike will target eight school boards across the province, including the District School Board of Niagara.
Oosterhoff is the Assistant to the Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce.
