In response to latest move by College Employer Council
With college faculty voting to strike, the union representing teachers is accusing the College Employer Council of trying to avoid the bargaining process by imposing a deal on unionized staff.
The council, which represents Ontario college’s, announcing it is imposing an offer starting Monday, that is says gives employees a pay bump and improves working conditions.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union says, in response faculty will begin a work to rule campaign on December 18th.
OPSEU/ President Warren (Smokey) Thomas noting in a release” it’s unfortunate that the situation has reached this point."
Thomas adds “Bypassing negotiations and creating hard feelings will not help students and will sour the labour climate at the colleges – everyone loses.”
