Police found a wanted man in hotel
Ontario's police watchdog has charged a Toronto police officer with manslaughter after a man was fatally shot in a Niagara Falls hotel last year.
The Special Investigations Unit says it has reasonable grounds to believe a constable committed a criminal offence in the July 30th, 2025, incident.
In a release, they say officers located a 40-year-old being sought for an outstanding parole revocation warrant at the hotel when there was an interaction leading to an officer firing a gun.
The man was struck and later transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
