Today marks 21st year of the NRPS' back to school enforcement blitz
Regional Police will fan out across Niagara this morning targeting school zones to remind driver's the kids are heading back to class.
Starting at 8:00 this morning, officers and detectives will be reassigned from their daily duties and will hit the road to make sure drivers obey the rules of the road in areas around schools.
Officers will be paying close attention to posted speed limits, child restraint systems, school bus safety, aggressive driving and distracted driving concerns.
And don't forget the NRPS Traffic Enforcement Unit continues to partner with Niagara Student Transportation Services regarding video surveillance on school buses.
Video of any drivers caught ignoring the stop arms on buses or failing to stop for a school bus when the red overhead flashing lights are on and the stop arm is deployed will be sent to the NRP for further investigation.
