Police say with rising gas prices, there has been a jump in gas thefts.
Niagara Regional Police are reporting a spike in gas and dash crimes.
Officials say between January 1st and March 8th of last year, the NRP investigated 40 incidents of people filling their gas tanks and driving away without paying.
During the same time period this year, 108 thefts were reported.
Business operators are being encouraged to use prepay measures.
Gas prices in Niagara are expected to go down six cents tomorrow, coming to 1.69 a litre for regular.
