UPDATE: The NRP has charged a 30-year-old man with dangerous operation causing death.
Police also say it was a 39-year-old man from Welland who died behind the wheel on Monday, but his identity has not been made public out of respect for next of kin.
Local home and business owners in the area are being asked to check their outdoor security camera footage from that morning and contact the NRP if they notice anything that could help in the investigation.
A man has died in a fiery crash in Welland.
The NRP say he was heading west on Webber Road yesterday morning when he lost control of his car and flipped in a ditch close to Murdoch Street.
The overturned car caught fire and officers were unable to rescue the man due to the intensity of the flames.
It's unknown how the man lost control of his vehicle at this time.
Police say he was travelling with a group of other vehicles at the time, and one of those drivers has been arrested.
The investigation continues and anyone with information should contact the NRP.
