An Ontario court recently ruled concerning a Waterloo homeless camp
Niagara police are making sure local community outreach programs are in line with a recent provincial court ruling.
Sergeant Erin Madill tells us a court ruled against moving a homeless camp in Waterloo.
"My understanding is that it was in a dedicated place, and there is a lack of shelter for the people that would be displaced from the encampment."
He adds police work with social agencies around the clock, taking the time to find out why someone is on the street and then help, if possible.
"One of the big pluses we have with our unit is that we have the ability to take some time and understand the plight of where the person experiencing homelessness is at," he says.
