Update: Man charged with 2nd degree murder
Update: Friday night
Police have charged a 34-year old St. Catharines man with 2nd degree murder after another man was assaulted.
Officers were called late this morning to a house on Lakeshore Road concerning an assault, and when they got there found a man with traumatic injuries.
He was rushed to local hospital, but sadly died.
Police say the suspect was found at a nearby house, he was arrested, but was hurt, and taken to hospital. As a result, Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has been called in, due to the man being hurt when police are involved.
They say Brandon Marzec is charged, he remains in custody with a bail hearing tomorrow.
They're also asking for any witnesses to this crime to call them.

Police dealing with a couple of situations in St. Catharines today, asking the public to avoid certain areas.
They were on scene in the Eastchester and Oakdale Avenue area, for an investigation, but that has been resolved.
They are also in the Lakeshore Road and Lake Street area, where they appear still to be.
Police have not stated what either situation was about.
