Police have temporarily closed three police stations to the public
In light of the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, Niagara Regional Police have closed their Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Grimsby detachments to the public.
However, the Niagara Falls, Welland and St. Catharines police stations remain open for emergency access only.
Two of the NRP's Collision Reporting Centres are open.
The CRC in St. Catharines will operate Monday to Friday from 8 to 4 and the Niagara Falls Centre will run 7 days a week from 10 to 6.
The Welland Collision Reporting Centre is closed.
Here is the criteria for reporting a crash to one of the two centres:
- Property damage in any amount.
- No injuries or fatalities.
- No criminal activity, such as impaired driving, stolen vehicle or dangerous driving is suspected.
- Not a dangerous goods hauler.
- Not a government vehicle (federal, provincial, municipal) including but not limited to cruisers, buses, plows, trucks etc..
- No damage to private property and/or highway.
- For a 'Fail to Remain' or 'Fail to Report', where a police officer attends and determines there are no witnesses or physical evidence.
