Niagara Health say staffing shortages are causing longer wait times for patients.
Niagara Health says its facing a severe staffing shortage.
In a release, officials say patients are experiencing longer wait times and delays due to reduced staff and an increasing demand for services.
The hospital organization says it's looking to fill 608 job vacancies, but there is a limited number of trained healthcare workers across Ontario and Canada.
The shortages are being exacerbated by growing numbers of staff and physicians self-isolating due to COVID-19.
Niagara Health also says it's caring for over 100 hospital patients that are waiting for care in the community, including home and community care and long term care.
The organization says it's considering all option to relieve pressures on staff while ensuring quality care for patients.
