Director of Planning says provincial money for home building is coming
It's just a matter of time before Niagara Falls receives a visit from the province with a cheque for exceeding housing targets.
The city's Director of Planning and Building Kira Dolch feels Niagara Falls has met, even exceeded the 80% target, to benefit from the Building Homes Faster Fund.
She says they're sorting a few more details out with Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation. "They get the data, but it's hard to extrapolate the renovations, such as where you're adding accessory dwelling units, or apartment units over commercial buildings. Also, supportive housing where you have, not necessarily shelters, but bridge housing."
She can only anticipate it'll be a large amount.
"I heard from the Minister's office that we're not the only ones saying there's a miscalculation happening. Not that it's anyone's fault, but we're just alerting them to it now. We felt we met the target, or exceeding it."
She can't specify when the money is coming.
