Bill Fordy says this underscores the importance of working with other forces
A better picture has been given to Niagara's police services board yesterday as to the types of criminals they are dealing with.
Chief Bill Fordy referred to the robbery of Harmony Jewellers, in which two stolen vehicles were used, one taken from London, the other from Toronto.
He added one was recovered in Hamilton soon after. "It highlights the transcient nature of crime that's taking place in the Niagara region, whereby the accused persons involved in these violent crimes come into our area from outside the region."
A Bradford man was recently arrested in Toronto in relation to a Welland shooting.
"It underscores the importance of sharing information, collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, and supporting each other in our work, with the ultimate goal of finding justice, and bringing those persons responsible to court."
He adds they had a theory a St. Catharines nightclub shooting, in which a 16-year old Ajax boy was hurt, was done by people not from the region. However, they just arrested two young men, both from St. Catharines, in relation to that shooting.
