Teaching brewery gets three gold medals and Top 10 ranking in international competition.
For the second year in a row, student-crafted beers from a Niagara College program have won gold at the U.S. Open Beer Championship.
Brews from the school's Beer 101 series came in first place in the Bitter, Old Ale and Bock categories.
As well, the college's teaching brewery tied for tenth spot in the competition's list of top ten breweries, and was the only teaching brewery to crack the top ten.
Steve Gill, General Manager of Niagara College's Learning Enterprises, said that he's proud of the students for their success.
"Back in 2007, when we were looking at starting the Brewmaster program, who would have known that it would become the premier spot for beer studies that it is today," said Gill. "Our students are consistently making high-quality beers that shine among the best on the national and international stage."
The school also received high accolades at the U.S. Open College Beer Championship, with four entries winning medals.
