The school to help train more people
Niagara College is joining the provincial government to make sure communities are prepared and protected before, during and after emergencies.
The school is getting on board with helping Ontario Corps, which is a team of volunteers, organizations and companies that respond to local emergencies.
Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response Jill Dunlop was in Welland today, focused on growing Ontario Corps volunteers.
Niagara College will encourage its students, and staff to join Ontario Corps, that helped during last year's spring flooding and the 2025 ice storm and wildland fire response.
The group can be sent out within 24 to 72 hours, to help with supplies, flood barriers, and garbage removal.
