Budget focuses on early reading, math and Indigenous education
Niagara Catholic has passed it's budget for the upcoming school year.
During the June 20th meeting, trustees greenlit the board's $294 million budget.
Key investments include $1 million for Indigenous education, and $1.05 million for staffing to support de-streaming and the transition to high school.
As well, $738,000 is being put towards the Math Recovery Plan, and $689,000 is being aside for reading interventions.
"Niagara Catholic’s Senior Staff worked very hard to have a fiscally responsible budget for the 2023-2024 school year," said Danny Di Lorenzo, Chair of the Board. "We have placed a focus on the important transition between elementary school and high school, mental health supports, and Indigenous education, as well as ensuring that students have a strong foundation in key areas, such as reading, writing and mathematics."
