This is for the Catholic school in Thorold, also Beamsville, and other upgrades
The provincial government is spending millions more in Niagara to ease overcrowding of the Catholic school board.
The Niagara Catholic District School Board says its request for $32.6-million has been approved, with $25.8-million of that set aside for a new Catholic elementary school in Thorold.
That's to ease enrollment pressure at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary school, and $2.3-milllon to build a 3-room child care centre at the school.
The board has not picked a site yet for the new school.
And, the government is also spending $4.5-million to expand St. Michael high school in Niagara Falls.
The school board says this means there are four projects on the go, which also includes St. Luke's in Beamsville, that opens in 2027, and another elementary school in design for the Macleod/Kalar Road area in Niagara Falls.
