Best Buy and Victoria's Secret making cuts
Best Buy says it laid off 5,000 full time store workers earlier this month even though sales have soared as people bought more electronics to keep them amused through the pandemic lockdowns.
750 of those jobs were in Canada.
Best Buy blames the layoffs on an increase in online sales and a decrease in traffic in brick and mortar stores.
After closing over 200 stores last year, Victoria's Secret is closing more.
It's owner L Brands has announced its shuttering between 30 and 50 stores in Canada and the U.S. this year.
L Brand also announcing plans to open 50 new Bath and Body Works stores in North America, mainly in off mall locations.
The company says it will then close up to 40 stores in malls.
