The province is investing $9 million in support of long-term care residents.
Some of the money will be used for the continued operation of 62 beds in three Behavioural Specialized Units in St. Catharines, Whitby and Mississauga.
The rest will be used towards creating 82 new specialized spaces in areas across Ontario this year.
Minister of Long-Term Care Dr. Merrilee Fullerton made the announcement today.
"Investing in Behavioural Specialized Units is another example of our government delivering on our promise to provide innovative models of care that focus on the needs of our residents. This investment is part of our commitment to modernize the long-term care sector and will ensure our most vulnerable residents enjoy the level of care, comfort and safety they deserve."
Behavioural Specialized Units provide specialized care to individuals with neurological disorders who can't be supported in their current environment.
