The province has ordered all hospitals in the province to pause first administration of all first vaccine doses, except to residents of long-term care homes and high-risk retirement homes.
This is in response to yesterday's announcement from Pfizer that there will be a reduction in the amount of vaccines sent to Canada.
Right now, the province is directing that scheduled second dose vaccinations proceed.
In response, Niagara Health says that the change in the scheduling of first doses will take effect at the end of the day today.
Any appointments scheduled for Thursday or Friday of this week will be postponed, and rescheduled on a priority basis.
Niagara Health will provide more details for appointments booked for Saturday and beyond once more information has been received from the province.
