Marlin Briscoe was the first starting quarterback in the American Football League.
Marlin Briscoe, was who the first Black starting quarterback in the American Football League over 50 years ago, has died at the age of 76.
His daughter Angela Marriott told the Associated Press that Briscoe died of pneumonia in hospital earlier today.
He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 14th round in 1968, before becoming a Pro Bowl receiver with the Buffalo Bills the following year.
Briscoe also won two Super Bowls with the Miami Dolphins.
In a tweet, the Bills noting the team is "saddened" to learn of Briscoe's death.
