The family has been notified and police are naming the man killed in the crash on the 406.
Fifty-four-year-old Joseph O'Brien from Welland was killed in yesterday morning's crash.
The OPP says a vehicle was going the wrong way on the 406 and crashed into a transport truck.
O'Brien was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the transport truck was treated for minor injuries.
The crash closed the southbound lanes of the 406 at Beaverdams Road for several hours.
Police continue to investigate and are looking for any witnesses.
