Police say it happened at a house on Tasker Street in St. Catharines
A 35-year old St. Catharines man is facing charges after what police are calling a violent break and enter.
Police were called just after the noon hour, last Wednesday, to a house on Tasker Street.
They found the suspect had broken into the home, and using a knife, threatened another man. The suspect is accused of hitting the victim several times with the blunt part of the knife, until other people in the house came to the rescue of the victim.
A violent struggle continued outside the house to disarm the suspect, at which time he received serious injuries.
Police say the suspect was taken to an out-of-region hospital, the victim was treated and released.
James Christopher Rice had a bail hearing from hospital on Friday, and was released with a future court date.
