Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates says the WSIB must end this practice, and be fair to workers who are hurt
Niagara Falls MPP pushing for what he calls more fairness in the WSIB program for workers.
Wayne Gates was joined this morning in Toronto by injured workers groups, wanting an end to the WSIB practice of deeming, something Gates calls legislated poverty.
The NDP says deeming allows the WSIB to pretend an injured worker can do a job they don't have, that often doesn't exist, and then cut benefits based on imaginary wages.
Wayne Gates says he'll introduce legislation to end deeming and restore fairness to injured workers.
He adds if a worker has not returned to work, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board cannot pretend otherwise.
