Marineland orca has died at the age of 47
Kiska, Canada's last captive orca, has died at the age of 47.
Marineland broke the news earlier today, saying the killer whale has experienced failing health recently.
Kiska, who was the focus of several animal activist protests at the park, lived at the park since 1979.
She was often referred to as "the loneliest orca in the world", since she lived alone in a pool complex since 2011.
The park has said this was due to provincial regulations that prevented the park from having another orca live with her.
An autopsy will be conducted on Kiska.
The theme park has been lobbying the government to sell the park.
Last week, walruses Smooshi and Koyuk were moved from Marineland to SeaWorld in Abu Dhabi.
