Former Chair of police services board says policing is significantly misunderstood by the public
A former Niagara Regional Police Services Board Chair is encouraging greater support of officers and all staff.
Jen Lawson is leaving after joining in 2020, and says policing is significantly misunderstood by the public, and vastly different than what's seen on TV.
She told the board last week it's vital officers know management has their backs. "Because at the end of the day the community, when they're struggling with something, who do they call? They're always calling the police. If you're not taking care of your members, then they're not able to take care of anyone else."
She was recognized for her service last week. "I would encourage both the senior management members and boards, and political contacts, to continue to invest in the health and wellness of our members, it's immensely important."
