Christine Elliot says they knew cases would climb in the colder weather
While new cases of COVID appear to have levelled, with 27 new infections reported in Niagara and more than 400 in Ontario yesterday, the province's health minister says they anticipated there would be jump in cases during the colder months when they lifted restrictions.
Christine Elliott says the government will not change course and reintroduce provincewide restrictions.
Elliott says Ontario's relatively high vaccination rate of 85 per cent means there are fewer people now in hospital in intensive care.
Yesterday the head of Ontario's Science Advisory Table warned restrictions might be necessary again if case counts continue to rise.
