Exact cause of death has not been released.
Hamilton Police have confirmed the city's third homicide victim of the year was Teenage Head guitarist Gord Lewis.
The service previously said it couldn't be 100 percent certain of the victim's identity, due to the state of the victim's body when it was found.
Ontario's chief coroner conducted an autopsy, which led police to ID Lewis as the victim.
The exact cause of death has not been released.
His son, 41 year old Jonathan Lewis, has been charged with second degree murder.
Officers said the body of the 65 year old was found in an apartment after police received emails sent to media outlets containing information about his death.
Gord Lewis was a founding member of the band, which is best known for songs like "Let's Shake" and "Some Kinda Fun."
